Carreta-carreta turtle and monahus-monahus seal are 2 endangered and protected species, which live in the underwater enviroment of Zakynthos. The marine park in the gulf of Laganas is the protected area for sea life and the last years the 2 species seem to recover in numbers.The waters around the island of Zakynthos are crystal clear with very good visibility which attracts a large numer of divers to visit the island for unforgetable diving experiences.
